This minimises the number of overlapping joints required on the roof. Longrun steel roofing safety features have been proven during seismic activity. An assessment by independent specialists found that chimneys collapsing onto tile roofs (made of concrete, clay or slate) often fell through into the house, causing structural damage and injury to people within. In comparison, chimneys falling onto corrugated steel roofing often caused no damage. Longrun steel roofs are about 1/8th the weight of a concrete tile roof, and are recommended as a cost-effective method to improve safety.
